Wedge Rafting, is recruiting for Senior Whitewater Rafting Instructor for the upcoming summer season. Located in beautiful Whistler, BC, Wedge Rafting is part of The Adventure Group (TAG). Wedge Rafting’s mission is to create spectacular experiences for people that lead to moments of personal growth. The Senior Whitewater Rafting Instructor provides a safe, professional and memorable experience for our guests.
Responsibilities and Deliverables:
– Trip lead whitewater rafting tours on class 3-4 whitewater rivers in both Whistler and Squamish, British Columbia
– Continually assess river conditions for hazards and changing water levels.
-Instruct guests on basic rafting techniques to safely navigate the river
-Enforce safety rules and regulations on and off river
-Provide a high level of guest service to clients
-Instruct, coach and provide feedback to junior rafting instructors
-Plan and lead training sessions (first aid, river running skills etc.)
-Organize and inspect equipment for each trip
-Maintain trip reports and records
-May assist in raft and equipment maintenance
Key Qualifications and Attributes:
-3 – 5 years of experience as a senior whitewater rafting instructor and / or Trip Leader
-Swift water Rescue Technician Certification
-BC River Outfitters Association guide license or equivalent required
-Must hold current first aid certification to commence employment, minimum 16 hours (80 hour preferred)
-Must be able to assess river conditions and lead groups
-Strong whitewater kayaking skills an asset
-Class 4 commercial driver’s license a strong asset
-Candidates must have strong English language skills and be able to lead tours fluently in English. Knowledge of other languages is considered an asset
Additional Information:
Role is seasonal full time – 30hrs per week, running from April to September
Starting wage $26.44/hour (paid per trip equivalent), 4% vacation pay, incremental increases based on experience and skills
